Sick #77, 1 of 3

Here we go with another issue of Sick magazine from August 1970 back when everybody was shooting heroin and throwing molotov cocktails.

Cover by Jerry Grandenetti
Inside front and back cover of Abbie Hoffman
Masthead full of mostly made-up names to make it look like more people were working there.
This parodies Arlo Guthrie except that it made him an African-American for some reason. It's possible they only knew who he was from a photo and weren't sure.

Steve Skeates and Jared Lee were real people, though.
Normally I don't post the letters pages but since this one was so full of made-up letters and gag cartoons (by Mal Hancock) I felt I should.

Cracked #99, 1 of 2

I've been posting issues of Cracked for years. Here's my newest post, issue #99 from March 1972.

The Overstreet Price Guide tells us “Alfred E. Neuman featured on cover”. It's not the only time he was, but it is the first time, as drawn by John Severin.
The inside covers were a pull-out poster.
Parody of Willard
Jared Lee
Before this piece was a four-pager, “The War on Law”, a reprint of which can be seen here.
Vic Martin
Mad regularly had their primers, so here was theirs, as illustrated by Don Orehek
“Nixon's Next Job” was reprinted in the paperback Cracked Up, and previously posted on my blog.
Here was the original art to the above that I swiped from Heritage Auctions.

cartoons from GALLERY

These cartoons were all done for the December 1972 issue of Gallery, a magazine modeled more after Playboy, but still having some of the same type of content as the pulp skin magazines that were phasing out.

CRACKED UP, 7 of 10

I don't know much about Caracú like what country he's from or if that's his real name or what. Wikipedia says it's a kind of beef in Brazil. I just know he contributed a lot to these magazines.

I try to clean up some of the stuff to at least make it legible, but I kind of like the yellowing of the paper and smudges from age or previous ownership. I'll spend more time cleaning things up only if enough people demand it.
