Al Capp's Shmoo #5, 2 of 2
Continuing from where we left off last week, here's more of Al Capp's Shmoo #5 from April 1950, which the first part gives credit to unnamed Li'l Abner staff artists and uses some of the strip's supporting characters.
Backup by the recently departed Mel(l) Lazarus but lettering by a Capp staff letterer.

Al Capp's Shmoo #5, 1 of 2
The first half of the fifth issue of Al Capp's Shmoo from April 1950. This was one of a few titles based on the supporting characters from Li'l Abner and like the first page says, the art is by Al Capp's staff.

Al Capp's Shmoo,1 of 2
Rule: Usually when something's attributed to someone, it's usually not by them. There are a few exceptions, like “Sam Henderson's Magic Whistle”, which I used on some of my earlier issues before figuring out this rule.
The Shmoo was from Li'l Abner, though later on it had its own Saturday morning cartoon show. Li'l Abner itself was popular, as were its supporting characters that had their own ancillary merchandise. This first issue of the comic from July 1949, from Toby Press which was coincidentally founded by Al Capp's brother.
