WHACK #2, 1 of 3

WHACK was St. John's entry in the humor comic business. Unlike a lot of publishers that just believed the more you add to a drawing, the funnier it will be regardless of what those extra things are, they at least knew how to be funny even if the results weren't on a par with Kurtzman and co.

The first issue was 3-D and the material here in the second issue most likely was meant to be which you can tell because of the wide gutters and objects sticking out of the panels. In further installments there are actual references to the 3-D medium.
Artist Norman Maurer married Moe Howard's daughter while editing comics for St. John and eventually became part-owner of the Three Stooges estate. I don't know if he ever tried to block a two-fingered eye poke though.
