Magic Whistle Radio Hour 154

Things I've collected over the years or acquired on mixtapes and comps or gathered from the internet or the library or my parents' attic. The different sources are the reason for the volume disparity. I make no claims to "discovering" or "owning" anything. Probably neither do you. It's whatever I feel like playing that week. Every Saturday. No repeats. Things that may or may not be familiar. Who knows? The time's next to each song in case you don't like something or it's icky or if you don't want your kids to hear it. Don't let offense at one song cloud your impression of the curation as a whole Past weeks here too. Just type "Audio" in the search engine. Or if you're too lazy to press a button more than once, here's everything up to July 2017. You don't get the all playlists, though. You can right-click this if you want to save a zip file of this one (containing an mp3 of the file) for later. Here what information I was able to find:

“It was in 1949 that a myopic character with a bulbous nose first blustered his way across the motion picture screen of the nation. He arrived via the creative minds and busy drawing boards of UPA Pictures Inc., a struggling company of young artists who were trying to bring a new approach to the art of cinema cartoons. They did. During the next five years, 'Magoo' cartoons were nominated three times for the academy award. In 1954 'When Magoo Flew' won the Academy Award for Animated Cartoons, Short Subjects. Magoo has also toured the world, gaining acclaim at such revered film festivals as Cannes, Edinburgh, and Venice.
”Everything about the Mister Magoo films is distinctive, the sense of humor, the drawings, the voice characterization by actor Jim Backus, and... the music. The idea of this album, MAGOO IN HI-FI, was conceived and Dennis Farnon, who has composed many of the scores for Magoo films, as well as other UPA cartoons, composed the music.
”In keeping with the character of Magoo, the music contains all the elements of humor, warmth, bluster, and pathos which are found in the captivating little pixie.
The misadventures experienced by Mister Magoo while trying to build a do-it-yourself Hi-Fi set provide bright and humorous entertainment while showcasing the fine musical composition and presenting a practical demonstration of true high fidelity[...]
