Many animated cartoons are thought to be violent but there's not as much with the major studios as with the lesser ones. Same with characters exclusive to comics. This isn't an example of that but it's one of the few ACG funny animal comics I have that's not racist. They were second tier publishers, maybe the print equivalent of Lantz. The artists often signed their work. I don't know why this isn't. It's from GIGGLE COMICS #73. Who drew it? Dan Gordon? Jack Bradbury? Lynn Karp?

Thanks for this, Sam!
ReplyDeleteKen Hultgren usually drew this feature, but I don't think it's him this time...
ReplyDeleteWhoever did it for this story forgot Duke wore pants going by the first page alone.

ReplyDeleteKen Hultgren wrote and drew this Giggle Comics feature from its start through most of its run, with his ex-and future Disney colleague, Al Hubbard drawing a handful near its end. The artwork in this one looks a lot more like Hultgren's finished style than Hubbard's sketchy style, despite its looking somewhat different from Hultgren's earlier style. I'd guess it was Hultgren.
