Powerhouse Pepper
Filler is usually called that for a reason, but there were some exceptions. Powerhouse Pepper, although several pages, was apparently just that. It appeared in various comics from Marvel/Timely/Atlas in the 40s,50s, and 60s; and sometimes in the mens' magazines published by their parent company. While the humor strips Basil Wolverton did for most comics fit the theme (western, s-f etc.), the stuff he did for Marvel under its various guises seems random, as if the editors needed 6-8 pages to fill instead of just one. The rest of the comics were fairly pedestrian, especially by comparison. Here is a Powerhouse Pepper comic he did for TESSIE THE TYPIST #11 in 1947...
