PLOP covers 2/3

They couldn't always get Basil Wolverton to do the covers, so Wally Wood filled in sometimes.

  1. I remember as a kid gasping with delight at the sight of the Plop covers in the 20 cent bin at the local comic shop. Then I remember being disheartened when I opened it up and saw the insides didn't look like the covers. Now that I'm older I can appreciate the insides just as much as the covers, but let that be a lesson to you comic book makers!! See?! Those comics sat there unpurchased back in the day!! See?!! They should have had Wally and Basil do the insides, and that comic would have been as big as MAD!! SEE?!@!

  2. These covers are truly amazing. Nearly all of Wolverton's work is widely reprinted as it's mostly in the public domain.... maybe some of these are owned (and copyrighted) by DC and that's why I don't see them around much.
Were these things ever republished later? By anyone?

Love the Wally Wood covers too. This looser, goofier approach..... it's much more fun than his heroic-looking realism.

    Just one man's opinion.
