Laugh-In #4, 2 of 5

I didn't see the show when it was first run but I saw it when it was rerun in the 80s. I remember my father looking forward to it coming back in syndication because he said it was the funniest show he'd ever seen, then saw it again and couldn't understand why he thought it was so funny.

Laugh-In #4, 1 of 5

Here's something that's both a humor magazine and a fan magazine. ROWAN AND MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN was one of the most popular TV shows of the 60s inspiring shows such as SESAME STREET. It was like a Republican version of THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR. For a while there was a magazine to accompany it. There were stills with material from the show, profiles of its stars, and original material. I actually like the artwork here better than the usual MAD/CRACKED/CRAZY style.

Masturbating Boss

I didn't have time to put up anything this Saturday, so here's an old strip from a few years ago, soon to be a motion picture.

Crazy #53, 4 of 4

I had Will Eisner as a teacher at SVA and he mentioned Ray Billingsley as one of his success stories. In his words, he would say “I told students they should write what they know and told him he should do comics about the black experience.”

This must be a picture of the staff, with editor Paul Laikin being the furthest one on the right.
