Captain Spaz #7

I thought I'd try using a fountain pen, so I used my father's. It was a fountain pen, but a calligraphy pen, and it showed.

Yeah, I redrew this for an issue of MAGIC WHISTLE. So sue me.

Snafu

Here's another imitation of MAD when it became a magazine. Marvel/Atlas/Timely had a bunch of imitations of MAD the comic, but once it switched formats, they followed suit. It has two-color covers, text pieces, a higher page count, and captions instead of balloons in its comics, all of which disappeared from MAD after a few issues, and became the version most known.

This is taken from the first issue in November 1955 and written by Stan Lee.

This was one of the first uses of the sound effect "F-TANG!" for an anvil dropping on someone. We stole it from Monty Python. Other sound effects were NOOT (a bowling ball dropping on someone), MEELSNOOB (an iron dropping on someone), PLINE (an alligator dropping on someone), and PLANT (a potted plant being dropped on someone)
