Here's the rest of the first and only issue of Jughead's Folly from 1957, the first part of which I posted last week.

Jughead's Folly 1 of 2

There was one issue of Jughead's Folly. This is from 1957 cashing in on the Elvis craze. According to Grand Comics Database, this may have been the first reference to Elvis in comics. As you can tell, it wasn't done by one of the regular Archie artists or even on model. I'm not sure who did this, though. This is one of the few comics to have Jughead in some panels without his whoopee hat.

Parody of Archie

Mad's parody of Archie also ended with him in jail. Also note the caricature of Jack Webb is also based on Bill Elder's caricature.

FRENZY #6, 1 of 4

FRENZY was another one of those black and white juvenile humor magazines. They did six issues in the late fifties. The late fifties saw the debut of a lot of these. I can't tell if there were more in the fifties or more in the seventies.

This Martian Ernie Kovacs person looks like he was probably the magazine's mascot.


The publisher here is Adrian Lopez who later published HARPOON. The contributors didn't get credited in the masthead. I can't say whether or not it was by choice.
