Man to Ma...These are fascinating. I love guessing!

Man to Man: the usual expression is 'I just had to buy it', but since she's married to a con (check the haircut), she's swiping it instead.

Army/Navy Fun Parade: he's not lost; it will be his berth if she invites him in for the night. (Overnight trains often have sleeper cars but I guess that was a lot more common in the 50s.)

Fun House: off by a hair i.e. off by a pubic hair. But I'm guessing neither are clerk/customer, he's just a bored husband.

Playgirl: I don't think there's anything to get here; the wife just wants new clothes because she feels she has none when viewing a woman without any either. It's sexist because the woman is treated like a pavlovian dog, and it doesn't really work as a joke either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1274527778557806059.post-11023635121087739242017-08-10T09:13:02.011-04:002017-08-10T09:13:02.011-04:00Regarding the Stag cartoon from 1941, I'm assu...Regarding the Stag cartoon from 1941, I'm assuming the gag is with all the running water, he has to run off to the gents room to relieve himself.mackdaddygnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1274527778557806059.post-87213336024282858592017-08-03T11:52:51.943-04:002017-08-03T11:52:51.943-04:00Cartoon #2:
